  15.                           When we first meet Ruth, she is a destitute widow. 
  16.                           We follow her as she joins God's people, gleans in 
  17.                           the grain fields, and risks her honor at the thresh- 
  18.                           ing floor of Boaz. In the end, we see Ruth becoming 
  19.                           the wife of Boaz. What a picture of how we come to 
  20.                           faith in Christ. We begin with no hope and are 
  21.                           rebellious aliens with no part in the Kingdom of God. 
  22.                           Then as we risk everything by putting our faith in 
  23.                           Christ, God saves us, forgives us, rebuilds our 
  24.                           lives, and gives us blessings which will last through 
  25.                           eternity. Boaz's redeeming of Ruth is a picture of 
  26.                           Christ redeeming us.

  30.         VITAL STATISTICS

  32.      PURPOSE:
  33.              To show how three people remained strong in character
  34.              and true to God even when the society around them was 
  35.              collapsing.

  37.      AUTHOR:
  38.             Unknown. some think it was Samuel, but internal evidence
  39.             suggests that it was written after his death.

  41.      DATE WRITTEN:
  42.             Sometime after the period of the judges (1375-1050 B.C.)

  44.      SETTING:
  45.             A dark time in Israel's history when people lived to
  46.             please themselves, not God (Judges 17:6)

  49.            "And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return
  50.            from following after thee: for wither thou goest, I will go
  51.            and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be
